So in 20something Myspace randomly deleted everyone’s content. So everyone who was logging in a few times a year to check if everything was still there.. One day they logged in and everything was gone, comments, bulletins, albums, blogs, and a shit ton of MUSIC too! So a lot of the original scene lore was lost..And mainly exists through oral history and grainy screenshots saved on photobucket, and a good amount of youtube videos from 2006-2010, often to promote whore trains (not actual whores, explanation below).

Hipster runoff dot com used to be a huge thing when scene started splitting into “hipsters” / american apparel type styles. The guy who ran the page was named CARLES and all the posts are gone but that was the best culture meta online for a few years. It was bought & sold and whatever it is now is not real
Of most of the sidebar websites I only know last.fm is still carrying on the same. My own 2nd last.fm has data as far back as 2010, but I’m going to go thru and cherry pick finding the rare bands

Vanity is Perfection [VIP] The word selfie was not in existence. Regular ordinary people didn’t typically take creative photoshoots of themselves before this. The trains had to be applied for and one a few out of hundreds would get in or get croneyed in. People in these groups typically had extremely minimal profiles with as many friends as possible, and ambigous, super shooped default photos. It was all this huge game.
Found some good leads on finding old trains in *** this tumblr rant *** about Jefree star: (I put all the text for finding Whore Trains, but the screenshots on this rant are class A and very entertaining example of the controversies that went on)

(at least for Jeffree Star) with another name and another layout. Some examples of highly known Myspace WHORES include Jeffree Star himself, Audrey Kitching, Hanna Beth, Kiki Kannibal, Dakota Rose, Gaygod (Matthew Lush), and Alex Evan.
“As the community of the Myspace WHOREs grew, the perfection or vanity groups are also started to emerge. So what exactly are perfection/vanity group? Most perfection groups are basically Myspace groups that gather many Myspace WHOREs such as Jeffree Star in one area and expose them to a wider range of people to obtain an in crease in their amount of friends. Myspace Wh***s often use vanity group to achieve a greater fame for themselves and prove to others that they are “better.” Just like the real world, the internet contains many competitions as well. You are either IN or OUT.
